Events

The Kemp Town Bookshop is a venue for evening courses or weekend workshops in creative writing, poetry, literature appreciation, drawing, philosophy and more. Tutors are experienced. Most are from Sussex University and are established practitioners of their subject with books and poetry collections to their names. Several students of the courses have gone on to publish, and in conjunction with Biscuit Jar Publications the bookshop has itself published pieces and collections arising from the evening events. We have the following courses currently on offer; please contact the bookshop to reserve your place.

Winter's Tales and Poems

This 6 week course explores a range of stories and poems with a wintery setting: The True Deceiver (Tove Jansson), stories from Dubliners (James Joyce) and selected 20th and 21st century poems.

Join us for this lively, discussion-based exploration of our reading. No previous experience is required – just an enthusiasm for sharing and developing your own and others’ responses to the texts.
